This volume was the best of the three, but not by much.
I really thought that him overmastering and gaining five threads would have had an actual impact somewhere, but it didn't at all. In the fight with Drile he was still super outclassed, but managed to win anyway. I'm sure that could have been written just as easily with three threads as five.
The ending felt very abrupt. He's been fighting against so much hate towards the Sand Masters for 2.5 volumes of this series, just to suddenly have them all unanimously vote for them right at the end. It felt way too fast for them all to have changed their opinions so suddenly, despite everything he had been doing to earn their votes.
Overall, I quite liked the world building, but the characters were missing something that meant I never felt invested in them. And the plot was very lacking, which was the most disappointing part.
