Remington Ford is a tornado of chaos and trouble. But when she finally is back after years away Brick Callahan can’t help but notice the fiery girl with a cast and shadows in her eyes. After events happened that scared Remy she is back in her hometown where she feels safe, near Brick. But Brick has never let himself have Remy, she’s always been forbidden. Too young, too pretty, too much. But with so much in their past can they get past that and be together and can Brick protect Remy for whatever could be coming for her?

This is my second reread via audio and I loved it just as much as the first time. There’s so many things that can give you pause in this book before you pick up, I mean ex wife’s best friend? Is it messy sure. But when you fall in love with Brick and aren’t before it all comes to light it makes sense.

Do we forget that Brick was being a dumb blind man who thought he was doing what was best? No but we forgive him and we love that they got their happily ever after after everything.

I love the differences in their personalities but how Brick has never encouraged Remy to be less. He’s always been there to get out of trouble and keep her from harm but he never once made her feel like she needed to chance who she was. He loved every spark and fire she created even if he was the one who had to put it out. The push and pull tensions between these two is amazing I love watching them push and pull and be unable to deny the connection/ feelings they have for one another.

This book has the best small town feel and meddling side characters and all that rough out the story so well. My favorite thing about Lucy Score is she creates characters that can mess up. They can do the wrong thing that you may not like in the moment but the story as a whole becomes more beautiful.

Brick is our typical broody controlling man but for Remy it’s everything she needs to feel safe and cared for. There’s so many moments in this book I swooned, I laughed, I was frustrated along side our characters but when this story was finished I knew it would stick with me for some time.
