This novel follows Birdie Wilder, a 26-year-old plus-size rockstar touring while a stalker trails her travels. Ten years ago, at 16, she fell for her popular best friend, Liam Miller, and finally had the courage to tell him. Heartbroken by his response, she channeled all her energy into her music and distanced herself. Now, in need of a bodyguard to continue touring, what happens when her ex-best friend shows up to take the position?
This book was a fun read, and the audiobook was brilliant. Grayson Owens and Angelina Rocca really brought these characters to life, and their voices fit so well. I loved Liam and Birdie together. In the past, Birdie struggled with teenage love, rejection, and maintaining distance, but now her first love is standing right in front of her again after ten years. I love how Birdie, a plus-size character often judged in the public eye, seems more confident now than she was as a teenager. When Liam called her βBirdie Girl,β I was melting. His protective and caring side, even after all this time, was beautiful. What a fun story. Iβm excited to explore more of Kaylaβs work in the future!
