iris is a tightrope dancer who can’t die. this, combined with her lack of memories from the past, leaves her desperate to find out who she really is. she meets adam, a member of an order called the enlightenment committee, who seems to know a lot about her. he tells her that the world is ending, and the committee will decide who does and doesn’t live. adam wants iris to be in the former category, and if she agrees to be his champion, he’ll tell her the truth of who she is. but the more she finds out, the more she wonders if she really does want to know everything.

this was my first sarah raughley book, and i will definitely be reading more of hers in the future. i liked so many things about this book, including the setting, the tournament, the reveals, and especially iris herself. i can’t wait to continue this journey in book two!
