This was such an interesting read. I loved the writing, but dislike the idea of a child being kidnapped and lied to for 12 years. It was so jarring to find that this book is set in present day — when it opens on an island with rudimentary tools for living.
I enjoyed watching Emmeline’s development and she begins to unearth the truth of her last. The bullying at school was too much. I hurt for her. The last third of the book was so well done. I loved seeing the scent/story unfold and pulling all the pieces together.
