Almost Summer by Susan Mallery

So, these were my initial thoughts upon finished Almost Summer by Susan Mallery. And, I was definitely correct. I've completely forgotten about this novella, but I had a nice time reading it.

The beginning of the novella was pretty cute. Alistair is a traveling surgeon. He goes all around the world helping people. He is very good at what he does. When Alistair arrives at Fool's Gold to see his friend, Simon, however, he brings along a nasty virus. Unfortunately Alistair has caught Measles, and now he can't stay with Simon, because his wife is pregnant. In steps Paige, who just happens to see the exchange. She offers Alistair a place to stay while he recovers. It's a pretty humorous first scene, right out on the sidewalk, and I definitely enjoyed it.
As Paige cares for a sick Alistair they connect and start to fall for each other. Paige, who has always wanted to travel and see the world, is fascinated with Alistair's travels. Alistair has some demon's of his own though. I really did like Alistair and Paige. I liked them together, and I liked them individually. That said, I can't remember anything else about this novella. It was super adorable, and I enjoyed it absolutely while I was listening to the audiobook. Tanya Eby is a great narrator for the series, and although I didn't love her British accent for Alistair, I didn't hate it either. Unfortunately, the minute I finished the book, I forgot about it. It's not very memorable. But still, enjoyable enough, and I'm glad I read it. If you like small town romance, absolutely look into Mallery's Fool's Gold series.This review was originally posted on Quinn's Book Nook
