This came in with a stack of donations - my community has been so generous this year donating books on my wishlist for my library. I recorded myself reading this book to my students and added it to the slide that they will use this week for their library lesson. So many themes to cover, Valentine's day, Lunar/Chinese New Year, Black History Month and President's day weekend.
What I love about this book is that students saw Kamala Harris become the Vice President of the United States and this book describes how she became a senator. Students of all ages can learn to look for superheroes and take the pledge (I loved the pledge!) Older students can write a list of who their own superheroes are. They might also look at what it takes to be an attorney or a senator - who is the senator that represents them in the state senate and the U.S. Senate? What do these people do? What if they wrote a letter to this senator? What would they say?
