Endgame by Daniel Cole

3.0

The whole series is a true sitcom of crime novels. Like merging "María la del Barrio", "Mindhunter", and "Seinfeld". Such ridiculous temperaments, implausible reality, and twisty-turnseys. No one is safe from being ambiguously immoral. The investigation itself seemed to be an afterthought, a little too convenient and safe, stakes were on the key relationship without the key relationship actually having enough pagetime to build to a satisfying conclusion. Baxter's volatility used to have consistency, now it was truly a little mindless. Not as strong as "Hangman". I was obsessed anyway.
