High Rise Stories: Voices from Chicago Public Housing by Audrey Petty, Peter Orner

informative sad slow-paced

4.5

this book is a compilation of narratives written by individuals who lived in public housing projects in Chicago, predominantly in the south and west sides. these housing developments were torn down and hundreds of families were displaced. these are stories written by these people whose lives were negatively impacted by these demolitions done by our city.

It was really informative, especially as someone who is from the north side. I have really been enjoying books about Chicago’s history and other books about the people in my city. I definitely recommend reading if you’re local!
