This was easily the best Christmas middle grade book I've ever read. I loved it. It is laugh out loud funny, heartwarming and occasionally emotional (there were tears in my eyes), with very likeable characters and an easy to read writing style.
The story is as Christmassy as it gets, even the chapter titles are lines from carols and and other Christmas songs (I was honestly looking forward to each chapter end so I could see what song had been used next). It reminded me of the type of school Nativity plays which play around with the Biblical story in weird and wonderful ways.
I can't recommend this book enough.
