Sense and Sensibility, by Jane Austen

I am a bit surprised that this was her first novel, however, this is more telling a story than story telling. While I liked Elinor - we do not get to know her as we do Elizabeth Bennett, and I could not stand Marianne thoughout most of the book. I never got the attachment to the main characters. Elizabeth I cannot help but love, but Elinor is that person you know you should like, but just don't mingle with very much. I wanted my heart to break as it did with Anne Elliot, but Elinor was so cold and proper and Marianne just falls in love way too quickly to really feel sorry for them. The story is good and I should see the movie again - it has been quite awhile. I probably would have liked it more if I didn't have such high expectations from Pride and Prejudice or Persuasion.
