I was excited to pick up this book in light of just how much I enjoyed The House in the Cerulean Sea. TJ Klune turns caricatures and funny premises into such a delight. However, the slow pacing of this book threw me off. Though it had a promising start, there were soon too many long stretches of very little – very little in the way anything profound or interesting or truly helpful to the story on the whole. I struggled with this read but appreciated the premise.
