Absolutely devastating. I think the movie expands on this short story so well but so many really good scenes from the movie are directly from the book, my favorite being the scene where Jack is falling asleep standing up and Ennis comes up behind him and says he's sleeping on his feet like a horse and how that's something his mom used to say to him. 
God just- so good. Such a well written short story.
