Coralina by Anita Valle

5.0

I'm a little ashamed to admit, but I read Valle's first book in the series, "Maelyn," and stayed up too late reading it; so I cancelled all my plans for the next day so I could sleep in and read her second book, "Coralina." I was not disappointed. Coralina (or Coco as her sister call her) is the complete opposite of her hardworking and stalwart sister Maelyn. Though Coco is vain and self-centered, Antia Valle somehow still manages to write a character that you want to keep reading about which is difficult. I feel that all the teen Monster High/Ever After High authors could take a cue from this book on how to write a materialistic, ditsy character well so the readers will care about her. Another thing I really liked was that the book built on events and hints from the first book and crafted the into Coralina's story while introducing the other nine sisters and side characters well. She weaves in Maelyn or Willow's story and I really enjoyed where their story is going. My only complaint for Anita Valle is that she needs to write faster! I'm dying to find out more about Jaydis and see what the ultimate fate of Coralina will be.
