This was really moving, and one of those stories that's both depressing and infuriating while also in some ways heartwarming and hopeful. It's told in a very unique style, and the writing is beautiful. It's especially interesting to me that it's translated from German to English, given how much language is centered in it. I would definitely recommend this book.
Graphic: Classism, Death, Suicidal thoughts, War, Grief, Racism, and Xenophobia
Moderate: Blood, Cancer, Child death, Gun violence, Infidelity, Injury/Injury detail, Islamophobia, Medical content, Murder, Police brutality, Racial slurs, Religious bigotry, Abortion, Colonisation, Death of parent, Eating disorder, Fire/Fire injury, Forced institutionalization, Self harm, Suicide, and Violence
Minor: Adult/minor relationship, Alcohol, Confinement, Drug use, Physical abuse, Pregnancy, Ableism, Sexual content, Suicide attempt, Terminal illness, Alcoholism, Abandonment, Addiction, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , Animal death, Cursing, Dementia, Genocide, and Mental illness
The eating disorder tag is mostly because there are hunger strikes, so people intentionally not eating, but not actually any disordered eating
