The Parisian by Isabella Hammad

3.0

I really liked this book, there is a patchwork of texture that Hammand is able to weave together. This works well for the historic format, cause you can just sink into the warm blanket that is this book. But, it is a little over long and sometimes Hammad does lean into the large metaphores, making the story more grand than I think is intended. Cause for me it is meant to be a quiet-ish novel about regrets and living through history you cannot control and didn't really need all the flowery and important language. But a really strong debut.
