Far too long. It was funny at first with some really bizarre, needlessly aggressive sections of dialogue and a plot that felt like listening to a broken record. It keeps circling back and back and back in on itself to fill in more and more gaps in the story, while the story continues advancing forwards at the same time. For the first quarter of the book, I found this very entertaining, especially the fact that everyone took everything so literally and they would all misunderstand each other constantly. However, this is a TOME, so of course all of these devices got old extremely fast and Heller failed to introduce anything new as he went. So what we’re left with is a hefty book where nothing happens and you’re forced to read about the nothing that’s happening over and over again. I'd love this if I was a white man who loves to monologue about historical events and treat women like shit.
