A Pair of Silk Stockings by Kate Chopin

i can see more clearly now what could be taken from these stories. you read stories like ‘désirée’s baby’ and think, if people were capable of realizing racism back then, then why are we still here, in the 20th century, and people are still facing the same problems?

this, you would think should have had more affect on the people of then rather than now, for these stories are really brave to have been written in the 19th century, but we are still in need of them now as much as we were then, because people are still subjected to harmful discrimination by racist white supremacists.

i think ‘a pair of silk stockings’ was such a cute yet heartbreaking story that shows you the simple truth of the world we live in. sometimes we really need that ‘me time’ huh
