Full Throttle: Stories by Joe Hill

4.0

Oh boy

When I started reading this book it was more of an oooooo spoooooky feeling, nothing too deep and just enjoyable enough that I could keep reading (it felt like taking bites out of a large sandwich) without taking a break.

I adored Late Returns. In Joe Hill's acknowledgement about 'All I Care About Is You' (which, the story by the way, broke my heart a little bit. I pictured Connor from Detroit: BH whom I love and it hurt) he says "One of these days, I'll learn how to write a story with a happy ending." Late Returns was damn close to that, at least for me. As someone who adores pop up libraries and what they can mean to people, this gem was smack dab in the middle of a bunch of horror and I loved it. So much. If I could own just a copy of Late Returns I would.

The later half of this anthology. Oh lord. If the beginning of this book had me humming along, the end of it hit me like a truck. I white knuckled my kindle. I'd already watched In the tall grass and was definitely expecting something more along the lines of the movie. Spoiler alert. It was not like the movie. But it packed a punch.

Honestly great job with this. I loved it.
