read this as i was trying to get into queer lesbian fiction. often not explicitly gay, but writing style is very queer - incredibly beautiful word choice, with queer undertones. plot takes place against the backdrop of a queer experience that the main character has as a child, and the entire book is informed by that experience. character development is rich.
