Ward D by Freida McFadden

5.0

Amy is an eager med school student who has been assigned to work the overnight shift at the local hospital's psych ward. Originally Amy's biggest problem is that she is being forced to work her first shift with her ex-boyfriend, but boy did this psych ward's patients have something else in store for her. On the ward, Amy encounters a man thats convinced he is Spiderman, a woman who knits non-stop, and a suspiciously handsome/charming young man who claims to hear voices telling him to kill others. But what Amy doesn't know is that her childhood best friend Jade is stuck in the psych ward and still battling demons from her past. During Amy's first night shift the ward comes alive and poses threats that it never has before. Throughout the night and early hours of the morning, Amy is forced to revisit her past and form relationships with individuals that the rest of the world has labeled "insane" to survive. Frieda McFadden does it YET AGAIN with this page-turning thriller and leaves her readers wondering who is going to make it till morning and which of the characters are actually "mentally insane". As someone with a love of psychology and true crime, this book had all I could ask for and I will definitely be reading more by McFadden.
