Jewels of the Sun by Nora Roberts

3.0

Three stars for most of the story: it's the standard NR contemporary romance with a bit of fantasy/paranormal and elaborate, fanciful descriptions of Ireland. And then we got to the last few chapters.

Please imagine that I am gently sitting you down on the couch and looking into your eyes as I say this next part. I understand that this book was written a while ago and that it is not reflecting contemporary norms. I still do not think it is cute that the heroine punched the hero in the face, even if the book seems to.

If your romantic partner punches you in the face, no matter your gender, please leave, and find a way to protect yourself in the meantime as best you can. There will be better loves for you, and a better life for you, either alone or with a person who is not willing to punch you in the face no matter how mad at you they are.
