This book is simple but manages to make it unique with a poetic style of writing and beautiful descriptions of wintertime nature. I love that it takes a focus on two girls and their very weird friendship. I can’t help but feel they even had a romantic connection. We only know the names of Unn and Siss, no other character is named.

Unn going into the ice palace was the most captivating part of this story. Her getting lost was so distressing.

I can’t say that i loved the book or that it was enjoyable but it is beautiful. My expectations weren’t high and i’m surprised how much it made me feel. If you’ve experienced grief, this is the book for you.
