I usually steer clear of enemies-to-lovers romance books because I often find them to be petty. I think this is my first enemies-to-lovers that is a second chance trope as well, however, and I enjoyed it much more.

Second chance is one of my favourite tropes. I loved the banter between Nora and Derek and it made me giggle and laugh out loud at times. I loved Derek and I loved the friend group in this much more than in THE CHEAT SHEET. I also liked that there was less of a focus on football in this than in THE CHEAT SHEET and more of a focus on Nora and Derek's relationship until the last few chapters. I'm pretty sure I'm not a football romance girl.

As much as I loved Derek and his friend group, I hated Nora. She annoyed the ever-loving shit out of me with all of her quirky phrases. It also felt like Adams was trying to fit all of the romance tropes into one book, which I found unnecessary. The company Nora works for has the most unoriginal name and I wish a little more creativity could have gone into that. I also hate how the people on the cover of this book don't have faces, but it seems to be a pattern with Adams' books that none of the people on her covers, except for those in the When In Rome series, have faces.

Adams' next book takes us back to Rome, Kentucky, and I can't wait to be back in that world with those characters. I'm excited for it to come out in 2025!
