The Red Mother Vol. 2 by Jeremy Haun

3.0

Beautifully drawn, volume 1 is all about the slow-build. Vol 2 is all about the slow-build. Then sadly, volume 3 is ALSO about the slow-build, until suddenly everything is happening, leading to ... an abrupt ending. Wat.

SpoilerFL has one of her eye destroyed then has to wear a fake eye. Everyone she meets thereafter belongs to a cult that intends to bring back the Red Mother, using FL as vessel. FL's two love interests are killed summarily to become incorporated into the Red Mother's herald--a black smokey monster with claws.

Who is the Red Mother? Nobody knows. Some giant bug thing who lost an eye.

Why do the cultists worship her? Idk, maybe they have a fetish for one-eyed things.

FL confronts the Red Mother, stabs it, destroyed the fake eye, then abruptly everything is hunky dory. No repercussions. She's back to normal life forever more.

Verdict: Underwhelming.
