I actually could not put this book down after starting - so much so I had it finished in one day. Their story is so debilitatingly sad yet beautiful to read about. I loved how complex both of the main characters were and the ways their lives were able to seamlessly intersect over these periods of time. The ending left both a deep hole in my heart and a bright spot of hope in thinking they will see each other again someday.
Rooney has such an amazing grip on the complexities of human relationships with one another and her ability to make you feel as if you're there with them experiencing the feelings and thoughts that they do is insane. This immediately became an insane obsession of mine and I know it's waiting for multiple more readings once this initial heartbreak has subsided.
