Demon Slayer, Tome 9 by Koyoharu Gotouge

3.0

3.5 stars, chapters 71-79. The Entertainment District Arc.

The volume started off quite slow and it wasn't my kind of humour. It was made obvious which individual was the demon because of the use of a close-up shot at the end of one of the chapters. I didn't like this because it made the reveal quite underwhelming.

I have mixed feelings about the demon (when revealed). On the one hand, it makes sense for her form to be seductive and sexualised because of the story setting. But on the flipside, it was frustrating that the first powerful female demon we come across is sexualised, particularly in the fight with the choice of angles used. There is a real lack of strong female characters in this manga and this didn't help.

The later half of the volume picked up a lot and it appears to be going in a good direction.
