Canyons, Caravans, & Cadavers by Tonya Kappes

4.0

The mystery in this book seemed to be a little more simple than the other books, though there are several suspects and it's not an open and shut case. There is more on Mae's (the Protagonist) shoulders than the crimes (or crimes.) She not only has to deal with meeting her boyfriends family for the first time, but also suffers from a slight jealous streak as another woman is trying to work her way into his life. Mae's self confidence is slipping away. All our favorite characters are there, including the wacky Queenie, Hunky Hank, Tell-It-Like-It-Is Dottie and the rest. Instead of ordering her to stop snooping, her Detective boyfriend actually uses her to help and she uses his approval to her full advantage. The story moves along quickly. It isn't filled with unnecessary data. As a special bonus there are some recipes and tips in the back of the book. :) It is clean and safe for teens and up.
