Crimes Against Magic by Steve McHugh

3.0

This was surprisingly not terrible. I phrase it like that with a tone of incredulity because Steve McHuge managed to make me like and be entertained despite the voice in the back of my mind saying, "This dude is the biggest overpowered Gary Stu ever and so many genre tropes are mashed up that it looks like a kid's melted ice cream social sundae." Thief + Spy + Assassin + Sorcerer + Dude who has hot sex with 2.5 women + Dude who plays the role of The Professional's Leon and rabidly protects kids...plus, wait for it...this is an urban fantasy retelling of King Arthur? This is definitely not high literature, but it's solidly-written, and I think I'll be glad to munch on the rest of the books.
