This book was described as an Irish Bridget Jones and I can see that. I loved Bridget Jones inspired books when I was college aged. Time has passed lol but I’d say the only part of it that I enjoyed less now was seeing the character so worried about her weight.
It was fun reading this book set in Ireland. There was a lot of slang that wasn’t familiar to me. But most of it could be figured out with context.
Aisling is country girl from Ireland. She’s got good friends and is close with her parents. She starts off with a long term boyfriend of 7 years but they break up at the beginning of the book. All of Aisling friends are getting married and her boyfriend John is clearly not moving any closer to proposing.
They break up and soon after Aisling moves in with some friends. I think saying Aisling has multiple love interests in the book is a bit of a stretch. She’s dealing with lingering feelings about her ex while trying to get back out there.
At times this book dealt with heavy issues but it wasn’t overly sad.
I would say I thought the book ended suddenly but I liked Aisling and I enjoyed the story. I may pick up the next one.
