Not what you’d expect when you search up Nutcracker p*rn but definitely a welcome surprise (for legal reasons this is a joke)
Spice factor: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
This book was FUNNY as hell, and I definitely had a good time (which is why I finished it in a day). The prose was well done, if a bit anachronistic at times, and it definitely feels like a parody of ACOTAR and the spicy fae romantasy genre. Clara and Louisa were genuinely interesting characters with a touching arc, and so was Drosselmeyer. The fae, unfortunately, didn’t get the character development I really wanted, and so the romances felt underdeveloped and out of nowhere. The spicy scenes were fine, nothing to write home about, but in general I prefer less spice in my stories. Actually, I really wish this book SLOWED tf down and we had the chance to witness more of this world, its characters, and their relationships.like DAMN can a girl get a follow up on Drosselmeyer and way more Louisa/Lir banter and heart to hearts, and maybe some more wholesome Fin/Clara moments?
It’s frustrating to read a book with so much potential to be amazing but missed the mark a lot. Still, the story told was a pleasant surprise, and I genuinely enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
