Elizabeth’s story left me sad and angry many times over the book. While this story has a happy ending, I can’t help but think the many challenges that women endured through history and especially in the mid 1900s.
From SA, to judgment/criticism on motherhood, weight, and intelligence, to unfair wages and job treatment, credit applications, and more.

This story sometimes felt like gut punch after gut punch that just emphasizes the reality of being a
working, unwed mother in the 1950s.
While the ending was very satisfying, I can’t help but think of the many, many women who never got the opportunity they earned and deserved!

Overall, very organized and well-executed plot!
