I wasn't a fan of the characters. They were either incredibly annoying or snobby and pretentious. I never really connected with any of them. The protagonist was bland, and so was the unnecessary love triangle (which was weird because it pitted brothers against each other). Also . The mystery was also lame. There weren't really any fun puzzles, and the reason for Avery's inheritance was really underwhelming and not worth the trouble of reading. The only interesting bit was the sequel hook, but I'm not sure if I want to read the sequel. I will say that the pacing of the book was fast enough to keep me engaged, but the payoff was not worth sitting through.

I really hated Emily. Not only was she homophobic but she was all around a horrible personGraphic: Alcohol, Alcoholism, Blood, Child death, Death, Domestic abuse, Gun violence, Terminal illness, Toxic friendship, Toxic relationship, and Violence
