Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys

4.0

HF about the Lituanians who were deported to Siberia by the USSR during WWII, who were supported by the USA, and should have been prosecuted for war crimes as the Nazis were for their concentration camps. Based on real incidents, although only one person in the novel was a real historic figure. Well written, horrifying story, but ended too soon, and the afterward did not clarify enough of how the survivors were able to return to their homes.
