I couldn’t put this book down. Finished it within two days, devouring it at an almost concerning pace. The characters, the problems, and the unanswered questions drive you onward, but you never feel rushed.

Scary, slow-horror, with well researched history and regional witchcraft/hedgecraft. Definitely not for those squeamish about gore or blood. The successes are hard fought, and you find yourself rooting for and sympathizing with characters you don’t want to at first. Complicated characters and relationships, well written women, and beautiful (and at times sickening) imagery.

I never thought of myself as a horror reader, but I just might be now.
