Andrew Joseph White is gifted in his ability to make me squirm. This book is a study in viscera. The descriptive language had me reading this book like I was watching a movie iny brain. I fear the post apocalyptic narrative in this book may not be fiction in our future, with the exception of The Hulk movie (that no one watches as part of the Marvel cinematic universe) type sci-fi formula that turns humans into something more. The queer representation in this book is wonderful, but so sad. As a society we went backward and these kids only had each other to lean on. This book makes the militant christian right look like the good guys compared to the angels. Hell followed with us is an allegory of transition and how the outside world will only perceive what they want.
