When the Doves Disappeared by Sofi Oksanen

That’S a tough read.
I like that it was about ppl growing apart in war more than the usual war-trope of ppl brought closer by war.
For me this was a book about the lives ppl lived that weren’t theirs - while being Estonian, everyone had to be something else - an aryan, a Soviet, a soldier, a husband, a wife, a savior, a wife…. Anything but what each really wanted to be/truly was and the tragedy of it all.
