The plot itself was fantastic. I was hooked as each mystery was revealed and solved. The murder. Another secret revealed. These were amazing. There was some great character development as well.

That being said, Dimitri and Rose's relationship screwed over so many people. By the halfway point in this book, Rose could see her relationship with Adrian was going downhill. And I was okay with the idea of them breaking up. But cheating? That was disgusting. Then, when confronted about how she's hurt others, she actually had the audacity to be sanctimonious and try to explain what being a victim was? That it's not taking action? At that point, I wished she would have stayed dead and the POV change to Lissa.

I went from being impressed by Rose's growth to disgusted with the cheating and outright pissed with how she treated others afterwards. Major backslide in development. Most selfish character and not a protagonist I was rooting for anymore.

Adrian may need to get his shit together, but he deserved way better.

For a while this was going to be a four star read. Docked one star for cheating and docked another star for lots of loose ends (apparently there is a sequel series).
