Sorcery Reborn by Steve McHugh

4.0

PLEASE NOTE: if you are coming to this novel/series straight from the Hellequin Chronicles series, consider the Avalon Chronicles series, which centers around a different main character, Layla Cassidy. I don't think it's too spoiler-y to tell you that her story weaves throughout Sorcery Reborn. I personally wish I'd know that before I'd started this series.

I'm much more comfortable giving this one a 4 star, as compared to the series finale for the Hellequin Chronicles. I feel like there was more resolution in the last part of this novel, compared with Scorched Shadows. That said, this is more of a start for what's to come.

I do feel like this is one of the few times Nathan does more than get beat up - a lot. It still happens, but our
Spoiler temporarily human protagonist not only holds his own with most of the people he comes into conflict with, but he manages to destroy Balder in a one-on-one battle.

For the audiobook fans, the two lines of the story, Nate's and Layla's, are read by separate narrators, which is very helpful in keeping the lines apart. Both did well with their parts.
