I don't typically read YA so I was surprised that I ended up enjoying the majority of this book. The premise of the book is interesting, I love reading a story with an Airport meet cute, a Booktoker, short chapters, entertaining banter, and dual POV. All that to say this book is jam-packed with cringy moments, an abundance of Pop Culture references, and a strange obsession with Tums - typically these are things I would enjoy (minus the Tums) but it reads like it's trying too hard. I also didn't like all of the swearing, simply because this is a YA novel and it just felt unnecessary for the intended demographic. Overall I had a fun time while reading Betting on You but I didn't love the direction this book went and the third-act breakup invoked a major eye roll out of me. I do think if I were a tween or teen, I would have really loved this light-hearted teenage romance.
