not what I expected at all. the illustrations were absolutely breathtaking, being done in what seemed like a single colored pencil with multiple different colors in the lead.
obviously the incest is not my personal favorite to read about, but it is based on Anaïs Nin’s real life which I didn’t know upon reading, so that makes the rating complicated for me.
however, her life, story, and sea of lies was very interesting to read about, and some lines were absolutely stunning.
