i love ccj's works, i will always find myself deeply enjoying her books. she helps me get out of my reading slumps when i read her novellas. now this book was enjoyable for the most part, but my biggest issue is the fast paced over something so big. i mean the kensa, our fmc, literally sent out divorce papers TWICE to denver's place of work, a kidnapping trip isn't enough to fix it. like the miscommunication trope isn't one of my favorites, but i tolerate it because i get the need for using it as a plot device, but here, it was more than miscommunication but also grief and unfortunately, that was not explored enough for me. now as always, the smut was great but even the beginning scenes made me upset because i'm like "y'all can fuck, but not talk?!" it left a weird taste in my mouth.

i will continue with the series because ccj has a way of roping you into her books with her vivid storytelling and i will not leave her books alone.
