I'm happy I dove into Sanderson's work with the Mistborn trilogy first because I've completely fallen in love with these characters. The Well of Ascension is an exceptional sequel with absolutely no hints of "second book syndrome". It takes the characters, events, and lore from Mistborn and expands on it all in deeply meaningful ways. These books are dense, but I appreciate that as it allows me to take my time, allowing me to absorb every detail.
As this is the second book in the trilogy, I have to refrain from making this review too detailed as I don't want to spoil anyone who hasn't read it yet. All I will say regarding the story itself is if you're looking for an epic fantasy trilogy that'll take you on the journey of a lifetime with characters that feel so real you struggle to remember you're not actually in the story with them, then you need to get your hands on these books and start reading. You won't regret it.
