Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton

5.0

This may very well be my favorite celebrity memoir I’ve ever read. As a Harry Potter fan, I of course LOVED the stories about his time on set. Hearing about his relationships with various castmates, and the things he learned from the many veteran actors he grew up around was such a great peek behind the curtain.

I specifically loved his stories about Alan Rickman and the other members of the cast who have passed away since the movies ended - beautiful tributes to all of them!

What really made this book a 5⭐️ read for me was his openness and honesty about his struggles with alcohol, substance abuse, and mental health. I had no idea this was something he struggled with, but I love that he ends the book by saying that there is nothing weak about admitting you aren’t OK - this resonated with me on such a personal level, especially with my own mental health struggles over the past year.

While I was already a fan of Tom Felton, this memoir made me a lifelong cheerleader for him.
