Thin Air by Ann Cleeves

5.0

We found this prolific mystery writer through the terrific BBC series "Shetland," in which detective Jimmie Perez and an unconventional cast of oddballs solve complex cases on a remote island setting. They were good enough to make us look up Cleeves' books, and they're worth reading even if you've seen them dramatized and know the ending. The plots are complex, and the detective usually have to pursue and discard a number of promising possible solutions. Try any in the series (and for that matter, check out the BBC's versions). I loved them all.
