Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice by Katherine Woodfine

3.0

I won't lie, I bought this book for the illustrations. Despite owning several of Jane Austen's books, I have always found it hard to get into them due to the language. The simplicity of the language in this, as it is targeted at young readers, really helped me get through it and the charming illustrations really help bring the story to life. I still find Mrs Bennett and Lydia obnoxious though.

Some of my favourite lines were...
"If I should ever go to Brighton, I would behave better than Lydia."
"You, go to Brighton? I wouldn't trust you as near it as Eastbourne...".

and
"After a little while, being so close to Mrs Bennett became trying even for Jane's good nature..."
