Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

Did not finish book. Stopped at 44%.
I really wanted this book to be what I hoped it to be (I love cozy stories and fantasy and romance and light academia), but unfortunately I've been left disappointed.
Honestly since the first pages I understood it wasn't for me, I never felt excited to pick it up and was quite bored, but the lore about the fae seemed interesting and I wanted to know more about it, also Emily is a pretty relatable character to me! so I tried to switch to the audiobook (I really recommend going for the audiobook if you're interested in reading this! it suits the writing and the format of this book a lot).
I decided to dnf halfway through tho. It became too tedious for me and I had no interest in anything that was happening.
One of the things I was most excited about was it being written as a sort of academic journal, but it didn't really feel like it? I was expecting scientific annotations, descriptions, and overall a more thorough observation of local faeries, but there's been very little of it? I feel like it stopped being what it was supposed to be very soon.
I know there's gonna be a romantic plot with Wendell
and this is something I was looking forward too, but I don't think their relationship it's been built in an interesting way. It was feeling flat, like most of the rest.
I wasn't too keen of the writing style either, especially for this kind of book format (an academic's journal!!!), it felt artificial at times.
