The Vagina Bible: The Vulva and the Vagina: Separating the Myth from the Medicine by Jen Gunter

4.0

Great to have on one's shelf for browsing or reference; less fun to listen to front-to-back while fixing meals (there are a lot of chapters on diagnosis and treatment of infections, bodily fluids and odors, prolapsed organs, etc.).

The amount of bizarre stuff the author feels the need to debunk, based in no small part on experiences with her own patients, is depressing. Or how many insecurities are driven by patients' creepy male partners (like the ones complaining the woman is "too wet" during intercourse, because they prefer the high-friction feel of an unaroused [or unwilling?] partner). The patriarchy really could use a good smashing, in the with-a-sledgehammer sense.

Memorably refers to douches as "cigarettes for your vagina."
