Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I liked this as light read that could potentially get more interesting as the series continues. However I absolutely hate the comparison between any of Sarah J. Maas’ books and this one. Maas’ books are complex and compelling and this wasn’t. This was interesting but very basic, there was nothing that really threw me except the very end which once you thought about it wasn’t that shocking. The characters were also pretty basic and honestly not very impressive or memorable. The main character was set up as being a smartass but you barely saw that and by the end I felt she digressed in whatever little character “growth” she had.
Although there was a lack of depth it was still gripping in some parts and left you wondering how this conflict could be resolved. I would suggest those that enjoy quick reads read this.
