This book!! It was everything!!

I love the twist this gave a single mom, small town romance!
Elena was forced to marry a leader in the mafia when she was just a teenager... and since then she has lived a life filled abuse, neglect, pain, and even has been forced to take on a role she never would have wanted....
Frank was her best friend when they were children... but he left when she was young, and was not there to protect her from all the horrible things that happened after. Even though, had he known, he would have done everything he could to protect her.
Now years later - she thinks he is dead (as does the whole world) and he thinks she married someone else because she wanted to...
Until one night she shows up at the house outside a small town in Maine with her 2 children... clearly running from something, and having no idea she would be running right in to him.
They are now sharing a home, and he is doing all he can to wear down her walls.... but will it work, as they truly learn who they are now and the things they have hidden since they were both kids.

I lovedddddd Frank so much. He is book boyfriend PERFECTION!! I love how he loved her kids and fought for their trust as well as hers! I loved Ellie so much, and the strength she showed... but thenthe ways she allowed herself ot feel safe enough to let go once with Frank. I love the twists and the things we don't see coming. Truly - I ate this whole story up beginning to end!

I was fortunate enough to Beta read this book, because the author wanted to know that it could be read well as a standalone, without having read the books that have characters mentioned in here. And I can confirm - you 100% can. I felt completely capable of following along and understanding what I needed to from past stories I hadnt read, and in the end this was truly about Frank and Elena's story!
